Kids 'Que Reserve Champions


The  "professional event" is a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event and we anticipate a large crowd. This event will be part o the Empire State BBQ Championship Series, which consist of 8 great contest throughout the state. The series provides for prizes for cumulative point totals for all Empire State Series comps in NY. The KCBS doubles as a New England BBQ Society scoring event!

The other day we offer a Backyard Grilling Event sanctioned by the New England BBQ Society. The day will also include a Kids 'Q and a Chili Cook-Off. The NEBS Contestants will compete by cooking sausage, hamburger, chicken wings, and chefs choice. New this year is our Rib Cook Off open to ANYONE. We invite all the backyarders to bring out their cookers, grab a rack of ribs, and enter! Proceeds go to a worthy cause, The Wilmot Cancer Center. This should be a great  day for all people that love BBQ!

The BBQ festival will feature prize money, trophies, and bragging rigts for our compeittors. We will also have great food vendors, BBQ product vendors, and cooking demonstrations along with a first class line-up of musical entertainment. We are currently seeking  competitors, judges, volunteers, and sponsors for our event. A $5 admission charge will applly.  The County of Monroe will also charge per car for parking to support their parks department and to help keep the parks beautiful and current. Each car will get one admission with the parking fee.

A portion of the proceeds after expenses wil go to support the James P Wilmot Cancer Center. The Brockport Rotary Club supports other causes such as Camp Haccamo, a camp for disabled individuals, literacy projects, clean water projects, boy scout troops, food shelves, and the Amani House in Tanzania Africa that supports children impacted by Aids/HIV. The Brockport Rotary Club was established in 1969 and meets most Thursday at the Hamlin Hometown Cafe in Hamlin, NY, just North of the Village of Brockport. Our club is ALWAYS looking for new members. Rotary truly believes in SERVICE ABOVE SELF! Our Rotary Family would be pleased to have you visit!

FAQ

What are the dates of the event?

  • Setup for our pro teams and vendors is Friday June 21 starting at 9am.
  • Turn in for our pro competitors is June 23 starting at  Noon for our KCBS competition.
  • We will host a NEBS Backyard Grilling contest,  a Kids-Q, a Chili Cook-off , and a rib cook off on June 21, 2013.
  • July 6-8, 2012 Northampton Park.

Where is the event?

The Brockport BBQ and Music Festival will be hosted at Monroe County's Northampton Park, located off of NY State Rt 31. The park sits between the historic canal villages of Brockport and Spencerport. The site is conveniently located just off the 531 expressway within easy access to Rochester and Buffalo, NY.

Is the event sanctioned?

YES! Our Pro-Cook Off event will beKCBS Sanctioned!! We will use the 2013 KCBS rules! This event also will be a NEBS team of the year event and is part of the Empire State BBQ Championship Series!

Our other events are all operated by our KCBS Representatives and the Grilling Contest will be a NEBS team of the year event. All events are blind judged based on taste & appearance.

 

Who are the sponsors of the event(s).

(See the Sponsor Page) The Brockport BBQ and Music Festival is sponsored by the Rotary Foundation of Brockport, NY with volunteer assistance being provided by the Brockport Rotary Club of District 7120. The Rotary Club is a community service organization that does projects to better both the greater Brockport area and the international community. The Rotary Club meets at the Hamlin Hometown Cafe in Hamlin, NY most Thursday evenings at 6:15pm. Please call ahead (585) 472-5093 to be sure of meeting location and program. The Monroe Coutny Department of Parks also play an integral role in helping to make the festival a success. Thank you friends at the Monroe County Department of Parks!

What else is going on locally?

The Rochester International Jazz Festival in Downtown Rochester also runs during the weekend of our festival! A wonderful opportunity to extend your stay in the Rochester Area. This is a world class Jazz Festival.

What does the event benefit?

This years event will benefit the Wilmot Cancer Center, the Rotary Foundaiton of Brockport Inc, and the projects and services that we support including  Camp Haccamo for disabled persons, the local food shelf, literacy projects, and the Amani House which is an orphanage in Tanzania Africa for children impacted by AIDS/HIV. The beneficiary, the Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester is one of the premier cancer treatment AND research centers in the country. We are lucky to have such a facility in our area. What great causes for everyone to come out and support. To date we have been able to contribute over $20,000 to the Wilmot Cancer Center. We hope to shatter that number in 2013.
